On the day service
As of July 2018 Southgates and the Woottons surgeries will be seeing all of the on the day patients at Southgates Medical Centre. We are aware this is a big change for some patients but we are doing this to improve the service to our patients. This is going to help the patients due to having all the different clinicians working on one site means they will be able to provide the best service possible. If you would like any more information regarding this please phone either the Southgates or Woottons and speak to one of our receptionists for more information.
Park Run Practice
We have registered to become a park run practice.
I am sure most of you have heard about the park runs that take part on a Saturday morning, and junior park runs that take place on a Sunday morning too, and I know many of you are already active participants.
We are the first practice in the area to register and the mechanics have not quite been resolved yet as it is a new initiative, but they have said In the meantime, is to encourage anyone visiting the Surgery, where your GPs feel it appropriate, to encourage patients to register with park run (www.parkrun.com) and to come along to the Walks café at 8.45 on any Saturday where they introduce them into park run. There they will find a welcoming and supporting environment to improve their fitness and well-being.
We have 5, level 2 smoking cessation advisors. We can see people from any surgery, they do not have to be registered with us to access our expertise.
We offer one-to-one appointments with our trained staff to discuss your options and advice in achieving your Quit.
We are working in conjunction with Addenbrooks University and Cancer Research to offer participation in the IQuit study to offer further advice and support in your quit attempt. We are one of the top 5 recruiters in the area for this study.
On average we help 35% of people we see to achieve a Quit for longer than 4 weeks and this is double than if you had no support in your quit attempt.
So far since we started providing this service we have seen 380 people and helped 135 achieve their Quit.
Contact us on 01553 819472 or speak to a trained member of the dispensary team.
